Life is a box of emptiness..

Winner of "Write Over Weekend"

In valley of singing birds and a river, lived a brother and his sister in a wooden cabin. His name was Daniel and hers Shirley. Daniel used to earn bread by cutting timber and Shirley was in school. He was creative whereas she was curious!

It was a Saturday afternoon, Daniel was returning home from work for lunch with his sister. Shirley was waiting for him while playing with her wooden unicorn. It was beautiful crafted wooden piece by Daniel himself as a birthday present to her. She loved fairy tales which Daniel used to tell her during bed time. And unicorn was her favourite mythical creature. She loved the noise the unicorn's legs made on the wooden table when she used to make it walk. It sounded like a real horse shoe would sound!

And then suddenly the unicorn slipped from her hand and fell to the floor breaking the horn. She couldn't bare the loss, tears started dripping from her eyes. She started to cry! Just then Daniel entered the cabin, watching her cry he came closer and asked the reason. Brushing her tears away she pointed out towards the floor.

He sighed. He took the broken pieces in his hand when Shirley asked him "Why did it happen? I loved it so much! And now it's broken. I was so careful with it every time. I lost my favourite unicorn". Then she started weeping again.

Daniel sat beside her wiping her tears and said "We are born empty, like a blank page. We gradually learn things while growing up. From starting to crawl to taking the first step. From feeding on mother's milk to chewing food".

She couldn't understand his point but she always loved listening to him and so she kept listening. He continued "Going ahead we learn to read and write. We learn various subjects like math, science, geography etc".

"I hate math" she stated. Smiling he ruffles Shirley's hair and said "I know. The point here my curious little one is that Life is a box of emptiness. It’s we who keep filling it with things that matters us the most. But not always we can put all good things in it. At times we keep in some broken pieces in it so that later on when we have a glue we can fix it". Saying that he got up and retrieved the glue from the drawer, applied it to the broken horn and stuck it back on unicorn. Her eyes widened with joy and she jumped on her brother to give him a warm hug.

How to identify FAKE NEWS - Infographic

Night gathers, and now my watch begins.

Being a fan Game of Thrones (GoT) these lines “Night gathers, and now my watch begins.” from the Night’s Watch oath fascinated me. There isn’t “The Wall” to guard from “White Walkers” *damn reality*, so you can’t really take any such oath and therefore cannot recite these lines. But as we all have seen in GoT, Life is full of uncertainty, be it death or happiness. We just need to deal with whatever comes our way. Back Story: It was just a normal lazy Sunday with a plan to take party & give a tour to one of my friend to Global Vipassana Pagoda . A peaceful place to go away from the city chaos, take pictures of the beautiful pagoda and see some amazing art gallery on the Life of Gautama Buddha.
